Sälmi Töngi has been producing about 30 tonnes of alpine cheese every summer for over 40 years on the Gerschnialp above Engelberg (located ca. 5 minutes from our Restaurant.)

Four Lakes Hike

The four-lake hike from Melchsee-Frutt to Engelberg is one of the most popular hikes in central Switzerland, maybe even throughout Switzerland. On beautiful summer day you are certainly not alone.

Swimming pool Sonnenberg

Swim a few lengths or simply cool off in the cool waters of our Sonnenberg swimming pool. The 25 m long indoor pool and the 50 m long outdoor pool with 1m diving board and 3m diving tower invite you for a few hours of fun. For our younger guests there is a children’s pool inside and outside.

Jochpass Trail

Crystal clear mountain lakes, bubbling streams, majestic glaciers – the backdrop for mountain bikers in Engelberg is world class. And the trails are also impressive. With 440 metres of descent, the 4.5 km Jochpass Trail offers plenty of fun and flow for riders of all abilities. The numerous curves, bumps and rollers are naturally incorporated into the terrain.

Valley Museum Engelberg

The Tal Museum is located in an old Engelberg farmhouse, built in 1786-1787. Historic living spaces invite visitors to get to know everyday life in the late 18th century. Visitors to the museum will learn about Engelberger’s distinctiveness, the local dialect, the carefully crafted Engelberg costumes or interesting facts from the history of the valley.

Seilpark Engelberg

An unforgettable experience, pure adventure and nature – this is the rope park in Engelberg. Cross challenging bridges, nepal walks and actionful tyroliennes. After our safety instructions you can independently enjoy the park and indulge in the adventure. Climb from tree to tree and swing through the air – the feeling is amazing. There is even a rope park for children as young as 4.

Artisan Cheesemaking at the Monastery

In Switzerland’s only publically accessible artisan cheese making production within a monastery, you can watch cheese being hand-produced and regional milk being crafted into specialities, such as the famous “Engelberger Klosterglocke” all day long.

We offer entertaining and informative demonstrations for groups, clubs and corporates, covering a variety of topics – all to do with cheese.
